Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. – Luke 6:38
The nature of man tends to focus on receiving instead of giving. But God cannot bless or like selfishness. He is a giver. His desire for us is to become a giver like Him. Many are thinking that they are the first one giving to the Lord. They did not know why they are giving? If we read the bible in the book of Genesis chapter 4 we are reading two people giving their offering to God.
Cain and Abel gave their offerings to God. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: (Gen 4:3-4) who taught Abel and Cain to give offerings to God? Surely they learned it through Adam and Eve. How Adam and Eve learnt to give offerings? Only from GOD
Do you know the reason why the LORD rejected Cain’s offering? God responses in (Gen 4:7} Yes, it is true and we can easily understand this from Cain’s response (Gen: 4 :9) Cain sinned inside his heart (Gen:4:5) Our GOD is a loving GOD, Cain was not ready to meet the LORD, but God met Cain to save him from sin. The reason being his sin, for rejecting the offering, still he rebelled against GOD. He had hatred against GOD and his brothers declared that they were not good. First he was against his brother and then latter against GOD. Nowadays Holy Spirit leads our life, those days LORD willingly led Cain in righteousness. In return he rejected GOD’s word and killed his own brother. ABEL GAVE HIS BEST TO THE Lord and Cain just made any old offering, and the same thing happens today!
GIVE THE BEST TO GOD AND HE PERMIT US TO TEST HIM ON THIS AREA ONLY AND HE REPAY WITH INTEREST TO YOU. MALKIYA :3.10
But, we are new covenant believer our standard Math:5;44 and James:4.17 and our Jesus love and his prayer is John13.34
There Adam and Eve did not love GOD and so they did not respect his word and they have different opinion on god’s love and sin. John:14:23
Cain did not love his brother nor respected God’s word and sinned.
Given to God is so good but, without loving your brother given to the GOD is not accepted by the LORD. It is explain in Math 5.24
Cain was not a godless man. He was a deeply religious man who believed in offering sacrifices to God (Gen. 4:3). Abel also offered sacrifices to God. But the difference between the two sacrifices and between Cain and Abel was the difference between hell and heaven, the difference between religiosity and spirituality.
Cain and Abel symbolize two ways in which people have trodden – the way of religiosity and the way of spirituality. Cain is a type of those who offer external things to God – money, services, time, etc. Abel, on the other hand, symbolically laid himself on the altar, when he killed the lamb and laid it on the altar.
Religious people can give gifts, pray, and do many good works – but they do not understand what it is to offer them. They may pay their tithes exactly, but they will not put their self to death in the moments of temptation. That is the difference between the old and the new covenants. You could enter the old covenant without dying to self. But it is impossible to enter the new covenant without dying to self. Jesus did not come to offer tithes, but to give Himself as an offering acceptable and well-pleasing to God. Cain and Abel symbolize the broad and narrow ways of approaching God – the way of religiosity and the way of true spirituality. You can be a servant without death to self. But you cannot be a son without it.
God answered Abel’s sacrifice with fire from heaven. But nothing fell on Cain’s offering. When a man consistently dies to self-day after day, there will be a fire from heaven on his life and his ministry.
This is the genuine baptism of the Spirit and fire that John the Baptist said that Jesus would give, to those whose roots He had first axed. On the other hand, a brother who merely does the right things externally may have a good life, but the fire and the anointing of heaven will be missing from his life.
Satan’s counterfeit ‘baptism’ which tickles the emotions (which is what most are enjoying today) is worthless garbage compared with the genuine baptism of the Spirit and fire that Jesus sends upon His disciples who choose the way of the cross.
Balaam was another religious man. He was a preacher who wanted to serve God, but who was also interested in making money and meeting great men in the world (Num. 22). He sought honors and financial gain for himself in the name of the Lord. There are many, many false prophets, like Balaam today. Their doctrines are all fundamentally right, according to the letter of the word.
But undiscerning believers cannot recognize that they are motivated by the spirit of Balaam (loving money and honor). These are the ones about whom Paul writes in Phil 2:21, saying that they all seek after their own interests. There were people in the church in Pergamum who lived by this doctrine of Balaam (Rev. 2:14).
There is no difference between seeking for honors and seeking for money in the church. Both are but different variations of the same spirit of Balaam.
Korah was another religious man. He was from the priestly tribe of Levi (Num. 16). But he was dissatisfied with the ministry allotted to him by the Lord. He desired to be more prominent, like Moses was. This covetousness (cloaked with a religious garb), was what proved to be his destruction finally. He and his co-rebels, Dathan and Abiram, and their families, are the only ones recorded in Scripture who went alive into hell (Num. 16:32,33).
So seriously did the Lord take this sin of rebellion against the authority that He Himself had appointed over His people?
Dear beloved, the Lord we are worshiping is a giver. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?(Rom 8:32) To follow His footsteps, God first showed us to give.
When God created man he gives his breath of life. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.(Gen 2:7) He gives all the necessity we needs to live on this earth.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.(Gen 1:30) When we give to God surely he will give us back more and more. So when you give to the Lord don’t give in the manner that he will give us back. Let us come forward and give it to God because before we give he gave us first.
Give freely and become more wealthy, be stingy loss everything.(Pro 11:24) I have seen many God’s children’s are not having the habit to give it for the Lord. When we ask them why they are not giving? They simply say they don’t have enough to meet their own needs.
Dear beloved it requires faith to give when you don’t have enough to meet your own needs. When you give it in faith, you are pleasing God. God is able to fulfill all your needs. Nothing is too hard for God. But this I say, Remember this-a former who plants a few seeds will get a small crop .who generously will get generously.(2Cor 9:6) Plant whatever seed God has given you. Sow for His kingdom.
Lord will give the increase through a harvest of blessing, and all your needs will be met. You will receive hundred fold blessing for whatever you plant. Anything of value can be a seed for God. Your seed may be time, spend time in the presence of God. Your seed may be your talents, spend your talents and knowledge for God. Your seed may be money. Give it for God’s work to spread the Gospel.
